Hello, Students!
Please take a moment to post a brief summary about a newsworthy event from this summer. You should summarize as many details related to the event as possible, employing the five Ws and H. Identify any and all of the news elements as possible related to your story and include a sentence about why this event was significant to you (this is the most important part of this assignment). Be sure to post your information as a comment in response to this post. I look forward to reading each response!
Time magazine has created a top 10 list for a variety of categories, check it out: http://www.time.com/time/specials/2008/top10
Students, please post your Top 10 news stories assignment here as a comment.
I would like you to post your top-10 News Stories for 2008 as comments here. This list should be posted Letterman-style, meaning you list/rank your stories from 10 (least important) to 1 (most important). Please provide a brief, one or two-sentence, explanation for why you chose to rank each story as you did. These events can and should include news related to sports and entertainment; you should also include important local, national, and international events. Be sure to identify the news elements related to each story. I look forward to seeing what you considered newsworthy… hopefully, your peers do too!
This assignment is worth 45 points and assignments must be posted by Monday, December 8 to earn full credit.
Please post a copy of your final draft as a comment here.
I’m always trying to do a little more with/on this blog than I did last year. I will have my Journalism 1 students post the final draft of their first writing assignment here. Since I have three sections of J1 this fall, this will allow students, and anyone else who is interested, to “meet” them.
Students, please post your final drafts as comments.
